I have owned a pair of Red Wing pull-up boots for 20 years. I have not worn them consistently all those years, but when I wore them it was all hard ranch work. Now I just use them to cut the grass and similar chores around the house.

I'm putting new soles on them and get another 10 years out of them.

I also own wolverines Raider steel toe. Extremely comfortable and durable shoes.

I fear that won't be the case. The fate of Greece is sealed more or less. The new loans, financed to a large extent by Germany have significant collateral: Pyrrheus Airport, numerous harbours and highways. Greece has no other way out but to default (there is no other way out from this kind of a debt spiral) and as an effect this collateral will shift ownership to Germany. This is the modern way to conquer countries. It may seem more humane - without bombs and guns, and is way more effective. After all is done Greece will be a foreign colony, all but independent.

Just a note about quoting Krugman: he is the same sort of keynesian that promotes all of the things that have put nations into debt and on the brink of collapse. He also is of the false belief that argentina has a booming economy now and everything is great there. He frequently lies, like stating repeatedly in his column over the years that the Fed created a housing bubble, but then just recently claiming on Bloomberg that it did not.

Lastly, Krugman won his nobel prize in something that had zero to do with monetary econ -- I believe it was geography related econ. He can be right sometimes, but he is wrong an awful lot. He wanted the stimulus plans in the US and was surprised they did not work, and now wants the government to spend even more despite already being 16 trillion in debt.

He agrees with what the President of your former country is doing economically, if that is any indication of his knowledge.

Regarding the Alarm System. I recommend Visonic. Their "Powermax +" system is available on Ebay. It's basically like a professional system, except it's wireless (which means you can install it yourself) and it will call your cell phone directly in he event of a break in (which means you don't need to pay a monthly monitor fee).

You can upgrade the system as you go- start with the basic kit, then add more motion detectors and door sensors later. Made in Isreal.

lol, just because legal brothels are less popular doesn't mean prostitution is less popular, it's just gone illegal where it's cheaper and immigrants are used.

Also the most effective legislation on prostitution has been a complete focus on 'johns' by making soliciting a prostitute illegal, but prostitution legal. The prostitute gets help the john goes to jail.

Greece is going through a major shake down. The country was held-up at gun point and it gave up the wallet. But the thieves were not satisfied and now they have the country upside down by the ankle and shaking it to see what else falls out of the pockets.

Don't sell the farm. When this is over it may be land will be about the only thing with value. Also, if you are sitting on money, it may not be a bad a idea to trade some of the currency for a house. That too will hold it's value.

Hey to greece!

Currently greece has not yet hit the ground. There is a lot of room towards "worse", before it can possibly get any better I am afraid.

The idea with physical gold sounds good to me.
The idea with buiness administration, not so.

Let me explain. Studies like BA (or other "hot-air" education) have its place in a society with a big goverment. These jobs do not create any value, they do what it says "administration" work.

So you will want to join a big company or the goverment basicly.
In smaller companies there is not much use for this kind of work and you will be labeled as "overqualified" for the job - meaning you cost too much and earn the company too little.

Now the field of web-design is a field where you are in competition with chinese guys, who are highly proficient and dead cheap.

On the other hand they do not speak greek. So if you have good skills in this area it might be wise to specialise on your strengths. Work like this can also be performed from home and/or part time.

That will come in handy, because the typical 8-16 job with decent paycheck and benefits might be something you will not find easily in the years to come.

That said, forget about gardening as a means of income. Thats romantic bullshit. If your wife/parents have a lot of free time and love doing it, fine. Every little counts, right?

Dont expect it to pay your power bill, your gas, medical bills, a new car etc. - for these costs you need an income.

I can only recommend the following book for any person who would like to learn how to work a vegetable garden. It's easy to understand yet very exhaustive, and it describes the "organic deep-bed method" which, although a little labor-intensive (a good thing for a prepper anyway b/c you can stay fit without having to subscribe to a gym) allows you to grow a lot of produce on limited space. Contrary to popular opinion this is the easiest problem for police to solve. The police in any city in the U.S. know who the prostitutes are and who most of the pimps are. The problem is that our politically correct society has focused on the "John" and not the prostitute or pimp. And that there is no money in fighting this for the police or the city. Every city in the U.S. spends about half of their resources fighting minor traffic violations and they do this for one reason only; an income stream to the city. Prostitution is always a booming business. And I'd say demand only increases in harsher economic times when life becomes alot more stressful.

In that environment sex is in high demand as the drug of choice, which means higher prices and more financial incentive for people to prostitute women.

One thing to understand is that the demand for sex is far far far higher than the supply of women willing to have sex for money. This is clear in places where brothels are legal. In Australia a inner city brothel women charge $450 an hour.

From a criminal perspective a woman willing to have sex with men for money is a goldmine.

What they did find was women who did it voluntarily, because the money was so good. Earning a weeks pay in half an hour is very tempting.

In fact there was such an over supply of women prostitutes there was even a case of a group of women in London who reported their 'pimp' to the police because he didn't find enough customers.
