Sunglasses for Urban Survival

Knives/guns/flashlights but no post about eye-protection. Try using anything after you're blinded. Ferfal, you wear sunglasses. Are they shatter-proof?  Do you have advice about which sunglasses or goggles to wear? and...what is best for everyday wear when the worst is not expected.
A-

Hello A, as a matter of fact yes, the sunglasses I use every day are Wiley X Revolvrs and they are safety rated glasses, besides being cool-looking Italian design glasses.
Just a couple days ago I thought I lost them.  Thankfully they had just fallen under the car’s seat. I use them all the time and they are great. Fit well, tough as nails, not too dark which is nice for wearing pretty much all the time (and shooting at night if there’s some artificial light) and they provide excellent peripheral vision which is essential so as to notice danger around you. The Revolvrs and other Wiley X models exceed ANSI Z87.1 high velocity protection. These aren’t just my everyday carry sunglasses, but also the ones I use at the shooting range. As always, whenever you can use on the street what you use during training!

I think it’s a good idea to have sunglasses that also provide protection for as you say “when the worst is not expected”. You just don’t know. Its not only ricochet from a projectile, terrorist attack or industrial accident explosion, it can be just about anything, even a car accident. Your eyes are important and having them protected just makes sense. Even for less dramatic stuff like dust, wind, rain and obviously, sun, its important to have a pair of good sunglasses. That’s why rain or shine, I have them with me.
Finally, there’s the psychological effect of seeing but not being seen. I don’t know exactly how to explain it but it does give you an advantage during interactions when the other guy cant see your eyes. Back in Argentina I would notice it more, given the larger amount of people that you are likely to come across that are trying to take advantage of you in one way or another.

I paid around 100 bucks for my Wiley X Revolvrs a few years ago but now they seem to have gone down in price some.

I like these ones too and was considering buying one of them when I thought I had lost my old ones.

My sunglasses come from the home improvement store - they're actually tinted, 100% UV protection. . . wait for it. . . safety glasses!! They look good, work great, and they're ANSI Z87.1 rated. Great for driving, shooting, whatever. And they protect your eyes too. +1
