More on the book

First I want to thank all of you for the suppot. You guys are great.
About some questions asked.
I wanted to make a 60.000 word book but found I couldn’t put everything I consider essential for you to know in less than 90.000.
That’s why it has taken so long to finish. The book is a 300 page (give or take) manual, 6”x 9”.
I’m not competing in price here with the 12,95 USD books, and though humbleness isn’t my thing, I’ll admit I feel the content is much better and more unique in many ways than what you’ll find in most cheaper books.
In terms of Modern Survival knowledge, as I explain in the book, one of the most important motivations that made me write this book is that there’s nothing like it.
If I had found a modern/urban survival manual that covered what I consider to be the essential, something with real personal experience or at least reality based content, maybe I wouldn’t have written it.
Many of the titles are common enough, but it’s mostly based on personal experience or things and techniques I feel strongly about, otherwise I wouldn’t have included it.
The price is roughly comparable to a 50 round box of handgun ammo, even a bit less compared to premium ammo. I consider it a very fair price.
Some of the subjects I already wrote about, but except for some few exceptions such as BOB list, EDC list, my Altoids kit and a couple other articles, the book is original content. Many of the common discussion subjects are discussed in much more detail.
The editing and literal quality, while self made and proof read, is much better than what you guys usually find in my blog articles. :)
I’m tired and still have much editing to do, but this is mostly what you will find in my book. ( A few sub third-level titles and sub sections are missing)
This is a rough list of the contents to be found.

Are you going to be using an online publisher for us to be able to purchase the book through? Will it be in print or in pdf form?

Well, just wanted to say that the minute it's out,i'm gonna buy one!

Do you have an idea how you will distribute your book? I'm in Canada, it hope international shipping outside of the US will be available :)..

Thank you for everything you already posted!

FerFAL,

Since I expect it would be a bit more in depth, and cover so many real-world situations, I think your book will be cheap at the price.

Ferfal, sounds great.Tell us when / where we can buy a copy.

On another topic, I have not seen anyone bring this up yet. What will all the kids with special needs do in a crisis? There is no way they can defend themselves, they are sitting ducks.

My son became "autistic" following routine vaccinations. There is simply no way he can defend himself in a crisis. I won't always be around, etc

I think we have a much higher percent of special needs kids in USA than Argentina. Still, what happens/ happened to the special needs population who can't fend for themselves?

Have you considered digital copies? It would keep your costs and headaches down. I'd buy a PDF copy for, say, $5.99. Margins on that must be higher than print. Just a thought.

Sounds great! Looking forward to it.

Ferfal - when will the book be available? Will it be a standard paper book or an ebook? Where can we order it...

Thanks,

Richard

Thanks a lot guys. I’m sure people will enjoy it.
It’s long, but it’s full of little tips and there’s many anecdotes, its fast paced and hopefully entertaining.
I tired to make it fun and remove as much drama as possible, avoiding the “doom and gloom” thing.
It’s going to be a tangible paper book. One I hope people carry around as they read it, making personal notes and writing all over it, drawing parallelisms between what I relate and each ones personal situation. :)
There wont be an ebook or pdf to download, sorry. It only takes one person to upload it to the net and all your effort goes to waste.
People have emailed me about articles I’ve written and people using it on their websites with other names showing as the authors.
Besides, whenever I find quality information, I print it.
if I didn’t consider it was good enough to be worthy of having a physical copy of it, I wouldn’t be selling it.
As of right now, I’m going with lulu.com, the most popular print on demand company. I’ll pay the fee so it will be available through Amazon as well. Amazon of course ships world wide and has affordable shipping fees.
The book isn’t for sale yet. Give me some more time to work out the final details. If everything goes well, I’ll post as soon as it’s for sale, and you can read your copy next weekend.:)

You dont want to know.
If parents or relatives can't take care of them or place them in private institutions, they end up in public facilities that are just terrible. Places like the "Borda" are total nightmares.

You need to make sure someone will watch over him if something ever happens to you.

Norcal, I hear what you are saying. I have a soon to be 11 year old soon who is mildly autistic (PDD), and one of my biggest worries is who will take care of him when his Mom an I pass. We are lucky in that he is pretty functional, but I am not confident he will be able to live by himself when he is grown. We teach him as much as we think he can absorb and hope for the best.

Just wanted to say you aren't alone in that regard.

this will be interesting.. Are you going to have the book written by FerFal or will be using another name?

I'm getting this the moment it's out.
A real physical book is gonna be great for when I'm not in front of the computer or when the lights go out.
