Years ago when the US government was spending money to "computerize the battlefield" -- i.e, throw laptops on top of the infantry's already heavy backpack, I saw a cartoon. It showed two soldiers with one saying:
"A laptop with a bullet through it is a brick, but a map with a bullet hole in it is still a map." The same goes for paper notepads vice PDAs.
